Tree bread or stick bread:

For 4 portions (salty version) one needs 400 g flour, 1/2 tl salt, 1 tl baking powder, 50 g margarine and 250 ml milk. For the sweet version: 500 g flour, 200 ml milk, 80 ml oil, 40 g yeast, 80 g sugar, 1 prize salt and 1 egg.



For the basic paste mix everything (up to milk and/or milk and oil), until a krümeliger paste develops. Then milk (plus oil) add and so long continue to knead, until the paste is supple.

A thumb-thick, long branch look for, this at the end from the crust release, briefly clean and over the fire dry. The paste to about a centimeter sausage roll and firmly and closely around the branch end windings thicken. The point case of even with paste close, otherwise it burns easily on. Depending upon temperature of the glow two to four minutes bake, turn always evenly. Never in the fire hold, always only wait, until there is a beautiful glow. But professional Freiluft Griller knows.

One should always completely freshly eat tree bread. Either purely or filled with (likewise grilled) a sausage. Further possibilities: Fill with cheese and on aluminum foil again to the edge of the glow put briefly. Likewise a mad variant for the salty version: First with Basilikum well peppered, thin disks Zucchini or bacon around the stick winding, then the paste over it. Also sweet fillings do not taste bad: Apple mash, Nutella or jam. And my favorite: Once briefly with the mouth dampen (there are still different possibilities, but I have those not yet tried out) and then in a mixture from Zimt and sugar to roll.
